Great Orme Nature Reserve

The geology, wildlife, archaeology and landscape of the Great Orme (Pen-y-Gogarth) on the Creuddyn Peninsula is of such importance that much of the headland has been designated a Special Area of Conservation, a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Heritage Coast. It is managed as a Country Park and Local Nature Reserve by Conwy Countryside Service, which employs a Country Park Warden and also organizes study programmes and environmental activity walks for schools throughout the Llandudno and Conwy areas. The Geology of the Great Orme area is the subject of an article in the Open University Geological Society Journal. Particular geological features include the Limestone Pavement.

The Alice in Wonderland Centre

Spending her childhood summers in a house on West Shore, Llandudno – Alice Liddell was the inspiration for Charles Dodgson's (otherwise known as Lewis Carroll) Alice in Wonderland books. Specially created, the Alice in Wonderland Centre allows you to walk through the Rabbit Hole and enter the world of the Cheshire Cat, the Mad Hatter and, of course, Alice. Displays, sound effects and a fabulous gift shop help bring this magical experience to life.

As one of North Wales' top attractions, high above Colwyn Bay with panoramic views and breathtaking scenery, its beautiful gardens are home to this caring conservation zoo. The Welsh Mountain Zoo is just 3 minutes drive from the A55 Expressway - exit at Junction 20 at Rhos-on-Sea interchange.

Conwy Castle
